When I first began my journey as an illustrator and designer, I never imagined that celebrating my culture would be the key to unlocking some of the biggest opportunities in my career. Hispanic Heritage Month is a celebration in the United States that starts every year on September 15th which aims to celebrate the Latinx & Hispanic Culture. It has not only been a time of reflection and pride—it has also become a powerful catalyst for visibility, collaboration, and leadership in the creative community.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of partnering with brands like SHEIN, Univision, and Erin Condren on campaigns that honor Latinx identity. Each of these collaborations played a pivotal role in shaping who I am today—not just as an artist, but as a storyteller and advocate for cultural representation.

From Passion to Platform

Like many creatives, my work started as a deeply personal expression—illustrating moments, memories, and symbols that connect me to my roots. But it wasn’t until brands began to reach out during Hispanic Heritage Month that I realized the wider impact my work could have.

Working with SHEIN introduced me to a massive, global audience. I designed a limited-edition capsule inspired by Latinx fashion and heritage, and seeing those designs worn and celebrated by people across the world was surreal. It was a moment of affirmation that our culture deserves the spotlight—not just during heritage month, but always.

My partnership with Univision was equally transformative. As a network that has long been a staple in Latinx households, collaborating with them felt like coming full circle. They gave me a platform to share not just my art, but my voice. That visibility positioned me not just as a collaborator, but as a leader and representative in the community.

Designing for Identity

One of the most heartfelt projects I’ve worked on was with Erin Condren, known for their beautiful, functional planners and stationery. I created a collection that merged colorful tropical fruits and flowers with empowering messages for women of color. The response was overwhelming—messages from people who saw themselves in the designs, who felt seen and valued. That’s when I realized that illustration isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about identity and belonging.

More Than a Moment

These campaigns were never just one-off opportunities. They've opened doors to rooms I once didn’t think I belonged in. Hispanic Heritage Month gave me the platform—but it was the power of community, authenticity, and cultural pride that helped me stay there and thrive.

A Call to Celebrate and Elevate

To brands considering investing in Hispanic Heritage Month campaigns: know that your support matters. When done thoughtfully, these initiatives don’t just benefit the creators you partner with—they uplift entire communities and create ripples of impact far beyond a single campaign.

And to fellow Latinx creatives: never underestimate the power of your story. The world needs your voice, your perspective, and your art.

Conclusion

Hispanic Heritage Month was the spark—but it’s the ongoing commitment to representation and creativity that keeps the fire going. I’m endlessly grateful for how these collaborations shaped my journey, and I’m even more excited for what’s still to come.
